The IV International Scientific Conference "Interaction. Integration. Inclusion: labyrinths of meanings and horizons of possibilities" has recently concluded. This year, 17 sections and a round table meeting were organized, which brought together more than 400 participants interested in the study and development of socio-cultural integration from different countries and regions of Russia.

'Scientist's Code' is a new feature on the university website in which we will introduce you to the scientists of HSE University-St Petersburg, their research, orienting points and hobbies. The first guest is Yana Krupets, Candidate of Social Sciences, Deputy Director of the Centre for Youth Studies and Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology. HSE SPB Day 2022: How It Went
This year, HSE University-St Petersburg's traditional HSE SPB Day event returned in an offline format. It was held on September 11 in the Sevkabel Port creative space. Students, lecturers, the administration and partners of the campus met by the Gulf of Finland to celebrate the brightest holiday of the autumn, which symbolised the beginning of the academic year and an initiation ceremony for first-year students.
Inequality and diversity among youth: risks and stigmatizations
The discussion of diversity and equality is hardly possible without touching upon these issues in the framework of diverse social groups. During IDC 2020 one of the panels is dedicated to youth studies – how these notions are present in the culture and environment of the younger generation. Yana Krupets – one of the moderators of the panel, the deputy director of the Center for Youth Studies at HSE St. Petersburg, and an associate professor at the Department of sociology shared the complexity and sensitivity of this field of research and plans for the Conference.
New craftsmen, new disciples. CYS investigates the сraft market of Saint-Petersburg
As part of the initial project, the Center is focusing on studying new formats of craft trainings. Researchers interview young craftsmen from Saint-Petersburg and their students who participate in various master classes, courses and schools. Sociologists are already interviewing potters and ceramists, tanners, jewelers, woodworkers and their students, visitors to candle-making courses and many others.
First Steps Toward a Lasting Partnership
Specialists of the HSE Centre for Youth Studies met with colleagues from the University of Georgia to discuss prospects for collaboration. They discussed the possibilities for development of academic exchange, summer schools, internships and a ‘Social Analysis of Youth’ track in the Master’s programme ‘Modern Social Analysis’.
Digital book is published by DiMe project
The research project «Digital Youth and Media City», supported by the Kone Foundation, has been recently presented the digital book «Youth in the Media City – Belonging and Control on the Move». The presentation took place in Helsinki, 26 January.
Successful Russian-Finnish cooperation continues
There was Russian-Finnish seminar in St. Petersburg 7-9 September hosted by CYS. The project "Digital youth and media city", supported by the Kone Foundation, was discussed there.

Age display and intergenerational memory: Conference in Copenhagen
Elena Omelchenko and Jana Krupets made presentations at the conference, organized by the "Youth Studies" magazine, one of the leading printed editions in the field of youth research. The conference was held from March 31 to April 1 in the capital of Denmark - Copenhagen.

Centre for Youth Studies has opened a new season of "Scientific Environment" at the St. Petersburg State University Department of Sociology with “hammer” reports provided by Jana Krupets and Nadya Nartova: "Age in work": Constructing of age by girls and young women in contemporary Russia", and Elvira Arif’s - " Girls security in the city: an analysis of the self-defense normalization in girls fights".
