Best Teachers 2025 at HSE University–Moscow Named

© HSE UNIVERSITY

The results of HSE University’s Best Teacher 2025 voting have been published. As in previous years, the rankings were based on HSE students’ votes, alumni feedback, and the outcomes of the Student Research Paper Competition (SRPC).

In total, almost 600 members of staff were named Best Teachers. Some received the title based on the results of several different procedures. Forty-five teachers topped two rankings, and five led all three. These were Nikola Lečić (School of Philosophy and Cultural Studies, Faculty of Humanities), Galina Orlova (School of History, Faculty of Humanities), Evgeny Sedashov (School of Politics and Governance, Faculty of Social Sciences), Svetlana Grigorieva (School of Finance, Faculty of Economic Sciences) and Vera Maltseva (Institute of Education).

It is also worth noting that this year marks the 15th anniversary of the Best Teacher elections. Four people have been named Best Teacher for the fifteenth consecutive time: Petr Rezvykh (School of Philosophy and Cultural Studies, Faculty of Humanities), Boris Demeshev (Big Data and Information Retrieval School, Faculty of Computer Science), Igor Kim (Department of Theoretical Economics, Faculty of Economic Sciences) and Ilya Prakhov (Department of Applied Economics, Faculty of Economic Sciences).

Congratulations from the whole of HSE, and best wishes for continued success!

Vadim Radaev

First Vice Rector of HSE University

— The traditional procedure for selecting the Best Teachers at HSE in 2025 once again confirmed the high level of professionalism among our colleagues. The results demonstrated consistently strong student engagement in the elections: around 90% of students actively took part, leaving over 20,000 messages of appreciation for their teachers in the designated sections of the ballot form. In total, almost 600 people were named winners, each of whom deserves the university’s special thanks.

A distinctive feature of this year’s results is the record number of winners who will receive an enhanced award for repeated achievements—more than 150. Another highlight is the group of colleagues who won in all categories: the student vote, the alumni vote, and as research supervisors. Usually, there are only one or two such colleagues per year, but this time there were five.

We should also emphasise the significance of the date: this year marks 15 years since the inception of the Best Teacher elections at HSE. Among the winners are four teachers who have been named Best Teacher every year since the project’s launch, over 60 teachers who have earned the title for at least ten consecutive years, and more than 120 colleagues who have received the award at least five times. This is particularly inspiring for the university to continue its tradition of recognising excellence and to ensure the highest quality of education both now and in the future.

The results of the elections at the university’s campuses in St Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, and Perm will also be published shortly.
