Digital Permits in Moscow: Important Updates

Photo by Christin Hume on Unsplash

Starting May 12, foreign citizens can only order a digital permit on the website. The SMS option is now available for the citizens of Russian Federation only.

The digital pass is a QR code + a 16-digit code that you need to leave your dorm/apartment to go to the hospital by public transport/taxi or go to a train station or airport by public transport/taxi.

Please note that if you are going by public transport, you will be expected to type in your Troika card number in the pass form and to order the pass at least 5 hours before your trip.

How do I get the pass?

1.    Go to the website and click ‘Получить цифровой пропуск’ (Request a digital permit).

2.    Fill in the form to create an account.

3.    Fill in the form to request a digital permit.

If you speak Russian, just follow the instructions on the website.

What if I don’t speak Russian?

As the website has only a Russian language interface, we suggest using Google Translate for translating the forms.

This option worked fine when we tested it on a laptop with Windows-Chrome. A small tip for the digital permit application form: choose the type of the pass that you need (‘Тип цифрового пропуска’ – ‘Посещение медицинской организации’ (hospital) or ‘Разовая поездка в иных целях’ (other purposes)) in the Russian language version of the page and then activate Google Translate to see the form translated into English. All the other fields seem to work fine when translated by Google Translate.

Here you can find detailed instructions with screenshots that will help you navigate the website.

For emergency situations outside working hours, please use the HSE hotline phone number (24/7): +7-985-040-1355.

Stay safe and healthy!
