From October 25–27, HSE University will host the XIV International Conference on Higher Education (ICHE). This annual forum will bring together professionals from all over the country to discuss updates in legislation, share research results, and exchange administrative experience.

This year's conference focuses on the diversity of students’ academic and extracurricular activities. The main focus is on how different elements—from teaching methods to equipment—affect students' performance and well-being. The programme includes 37 thematic sections dedicated to the development of transferable skills, the use of big data in the educational process, local educational policy features, and many other topics.

The experts will discuss key trends in education that are relevant both in Russia and globally. These include the development of university campuses, strengthening collaboration between universities and innovative technology companies, and the formation of transferable skills. The discussion will involve renowned scientists, higher education managers, and representatives from the government and large business structures interested in partnerships with universities.

One of the key events this year will be a panel discussion centred around the analysis of a pilot project to change levels of vocational education in Russia. Six Russian universities have started testing innovations in the higher education system. During the upcoming discussion, participants will consider methodological approaches to analysing this model and determining its main criteria for success, which will allow for a more objective evaluation of the experiment's results.

This year, the conference received a record number of applications: almost 200 papers, of which the programme committee selected 92. In addition to the papers, the conference will feature special events, including industry roundtables, special sessions, and several spaces from the HSE Institute of Education. Among them are the IPA higher education researchers seminar and a reunion of graduates of the Management in Higher Education master’s programme.
