HSE’s Extreme Sports student club offers students, teachers and employees at HSE, and their friends, the opportunity to take part in a series of spring and summer trips. Trips on offer include: hiking through Crimea and Abkhazia, climbing Europe’s tallest mountain – Mt. Elbrus, an expedition to the Sayan Mountains and a surf camp in Portugal.

The 20th issue of The HSE Look is dedicated to  the Faculty of Humanities launched at HSE in December 2014. The Dean,  Professor Alexey Rutkevich, discussed the new opportunities and challenges connected with the foundation of this large faculty. Vladimir Unkovski-Korica, an Assistant Professor at the School of History, presents his monograph 'The Economic Struggle for Power in Tito’s Yugoslavia: from World war II to Non-Alignment'. The 'Welcome Aboard' section features an interview with Nadia Moro, an Assistant Professor at the School of Philosophy, who began working at HSE in September 2014.

Tutor Outreach is a new volunteer initiative developed by School of Philology students under the HSE’s ICEF Outreach organization. The initiative aims to help people in children’s homes with their studies. All the volunteers work as tutors, preparing the children for exams, helping them with their homework, answering difficult questions and helping them catch up with the curriculum.

The British parliamentary university debate championship 'HSE Open 2015' will be held at HSE on the 4-5th of April. Registration deadline for players, judges and observers is March 30.

The 13th ‘MuzVyshka’ – a music festival organized by the student organization StS with the support of the Centre of Creative Production and Cultural Programmes, recently took place at Fassbinder club.

On March 18 there will be public presentations defending projects that have made it to the second round of the student initiative competition. After the voting – by registered users of the Vyshka (HSE) Family website, 20 projects were selected out of a total 73. The winning projects will receive funding from the Student Initiative Support Fund.

On the 15th February 2015, the School of Foreign Languages held its first ‘olympiad’ for students and graduates applying for places on the new Master’s programme Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communications. The competition was open to 4th and 5th year students and recent university graduates.

The latest issue of the HSE LooK is dedicated to research life at HSE. The International Laboratory for Applied Network Research shares the experience of starting up a research unit and successful collaboration with colleagues and students. Marco Colosio, a PhD student at the Centre for Cognition and Decision Making, moderates the Journal Club in cognitive neuroscience and neuroeconomics and shares his experience of working in this discussion group. The editors also congratulate Assistant Professors Udara Peiris and Dina Balalaeva on the acceptance of their articles for publication.
