On January 25, The HSE University Academic Council reviewed proposed changes to the Employee Internal Regulations, the Student Internal Regulations, and the Procedures for Supporting HSE Student Organizations and Student Initiatives.

HSE University and Coursera have launched the Coursera for HSE cooperation initiative, which will allow HSE students to obtain free certificates upon their completion of online courses of other learning institution. Moreover, HSE University will cover the cost of the certificates.

A new supercomputer, which has been recently set up at MIEM, will allow the university to carry out high quality research in deep learning and mathematical modeling. The computer was ranked sixth in the April Top-50 ranking of supercomputers in Russia.

This is the fourth food point in the building – there are already two cafeterias and a cafe . In addition to traditional food-serving counters, the new cafeteria will feature a salad bar and an open kitchen, where Italian pizza will be cooked.

LG Electronics and the Higher School of Economics have announced the launch of a special collaborative educational project. A new computer classroom will provide students of engineering, industrial design, and computer programming the opportunity to study the most modern tools and methods of design using equipment designed for rapidly developing disciplines and the higher technological demands of their results. With a 21:9 aspect ratio, these monitors are currently the most conducive to solving such complex tasks at work and in school.

It will be located in Building B and is an addition to the existing library in Building A. The new library will be a space not only for those willing to go somewhere private with a book or a tablet, but also for teams who need to get together to discuss joint research projects. The library opens on January 16 at noon. The first 300 visitors will get to participate in a prize draw, which will introduce the readers to the library’s collection.

In December 2017 The HSE Look took an interview with Dmitry Dagaev about the changes to the HSE Research Productivity Assessment, and one of the novelties was a shift from a manual check to an automated solution. Early this summer, the HSE community was surprised to learn about its newest colleague: a robot helper named Isaac tasked with recording and scoring the publications by researchers and faculty. Isaac is constantly learning to improve its algorithms and interface, and now that it’s learned English, we are happy to share with The HSE Look readers the exclusive interview with Isaac taken by Okna Rosta, where he talks about his functions and even offers some words of advice.
