A group of laboratory staff headed by Professor Fuad Aleskerov returned from the Arctic University of Norway (UiT). The HSE scholars and students participated in the first field course which was held from September 24 to September 28, 2018 as part of a three-year project on international cooperation between NRU HSE and the Arctic University of Norway (UiT).

IIMS and ICSID have been actively implementing their Visiting Researchers Program for a long time. Every year, at least ten researchers from all around the world come to Moscow. Most recently, Ashley Blum, a PhD student at the University of California in Los Angeles, visited ICSID and spent about a month and a half in Moscow. We talked to Ashley about her research project and her life in the Russian capital.

The Harriman Institute (USA), ICSID long-standing partner, will provide Ph.D. students with travel grants to participate in the workshop “Topics in Political Economy of Development”, which will be held in Moscow on June 7, 2018.

Master’s programme in  Governance of Science, Technology, and Innovation has been offered by HSE ISSEK since 2014. It helps students acquire knowledge about science, technology and innovation management and policy. Below,  Dirk Meissner , Academic Supervisor of the programme, talks about its key features and development. Besides, first and second-year international students describe their reasons for enrolling in the programme and share their experience of studying at HSE.

The Higher School of Economics Laboratory for Comparative Social Research in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia invites applications for postdoctoral research positions in the field of sociology, political science or economics. The applicant’s research in the lab will be focused on cross-cultural comparisons using WVS/EVS, ESS or similar data. Deadline: February 15, 2018.

Amanda Zadorian, Ph.D. Candidate in Politics at the New School for Social Research, spent a month working at ICSID this summer. Amanda answered a couple of our questions about her current research and her stay in Moscow. 

In July 2017, the HSE Institute of Education welcomed its first international summer school Inequality of Educational Opportunities. Organized by the IOE International Laboratory for Education Policy Analysis, this venue aimed to promote best-practice approaches to inequality research through multi-dimensional academic debate and learning about today’s advanced methodology in social data analysis.

The Higher School of Economics Laboratory for Comparative Social Research (LCSR) in Moscow, Russia invites applications for postdoctoral research positions in the field of comparative studies.

During the second day of the LCSR Summer School, the participants continued learning the basics of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The lecture focused on the issue of model identification.
