Advertising and Public Relations students at global finance forum Ecumene 2022
Third-year bachelor students of the academic program “Advertising and Public Relations” were invited to attend the forum by the Pan-Russian Nature Conservation Society.
During September 28-30 students of the academic program “Advertising and Public Relations” joined the global finance forum Ecumene-2022 to witness the discussion of the core issues of the global environmental agenda. The event took place at the Russian Academy of Sciences and was joined by more than 120 speakers from 22 countries.
Advertising & PR students were invited to the forum by the Pan-Russian Nature Conservation Society. This organization is one of the clients of the business game that unites all our third-year bachelor students.
Business game – the process that covers the whole study year. The business game is incorporated in the ‘Integrated Communications Management’ course and combines both educational process and applying the knowledge in practice.
After visiting the forum, Julia Korogod, 3rd year Advertising and PR student, is convinced that “humankind finds itself in turbulence mode: that is why we can solve current problems only by joining the efforts”.
"The main goals for humankind right now are solving issues related to overcoming starvation in certain world regions, upgrading the water-cleaning process, and providing access to energy for the whole population of the planet," says Julia.
Joining the forum is only the beginning of working on the business game tasks. Students are yet to participate in briefings where the representatives of client companies will explain the business tasks that they are to solve during the academic year. During all four study modules, students will work on the clients’ briefs and then, at the end of the year, present the results to the clients. To complete the tasks, students will apply the knowledge and skills that they get in the Integrated Communications Management course.
"I hope that while participating in the forum students will gain an understanding of the international ESG agenda as well as Russian society’s view on it. And, of course, it is a pleasure and honour to see your client play a major role in such an important event!" says Alexander Mozhaev, professor at the School of Communication.
Speaking of the challenges that students will face while working with the Pan-Russian Nature Conservation Society, Alexander Mozhaev highlights that «in broad terms, it is about the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. More specifically, students will work with a nature protection topic that is extremely relevant for Russia».
Students will be suggested to conduct the analysis and suggest communication projects in the following directions:
- Forest resources of the Russian Federation
- water resources of the Russian Federation
- development of responsible tourism
- sustainable, 'green' economy in the Russian Federation.
Pan-Russian Nature Conservation Society is one of the multiple clients that students will work with. Other clients for this study year are SPLAT, X5 Retail Group, S7 Airlines, and Xiaomi.
