Since 2003, I have taught at the Department of Financial Management (later the Department of Economics and Finance) at HSE University – Perm.
From 2014 to 2022, I led the International Laboratory for the Economics of Intangible Assets.
Between 2016 and 2022, I worked at the Department of Management at HSE University – Saint Petersburg.
In 2021–2022, I held the positions of Dean and Deputy Director for Research at HSE University – Saint Petersburg.
Since 2023, I have been teaching at the University of Vigo (Spain), Department of Finance, and concurrently serving as a Senior Research Fellow at the MLENA Laboratory, HSE University – Perm.

IDLab at the XII International Conference on Applied Research in Economics – iCare
October 30–31, 2025, researchers from 16 Russian and 9 foreign universities discussed the processes of internationalization in developing economies at the Perm campus of HSE University as part of the XII International Conference on Applied Research in Economics - iCare. An Advanced Econometrics Striving for Causality professional development course was held at HSE University - Perm
The International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy at HSE University conducted a professional development course titled "Advanced Econometrics: Striving for Causality" as part of the "International Academic Cooperation" project. The course was held online from September 24 to October 22, 2025, and consisted of ten academic sessions distributed over six weeks of intensive training.

IDLab at the XII Scientific Conference “Neighbors in Research”: summarizing the results
On the 21st of April at the Perm campus of the National Research University Higher School of Economics the XII scientific conference "Neighbors in Research" took place, which brought together many scientists from Russian and foreign universities. Researchers of the International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy of the Perm campus of the National Research University Higher School of Economics actively participated in the conference - more than 10 reports were presented in 9 sections. We summarise the results and share the impressions of the participants.
A Scientific Perspective on SME Digital Transformation: IDLab Seminar
On January 31, 2025, the International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy (IDLab) hosted a scientific seminar focused on the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The presentation was led by Viktor Krakovich, with contributions from Evgeniya Shenkman, Yulia Naidenova, and Elena Shakina. The research topic was "Mapping SME Digital Transformation: A Decade of Academic Debates."

On October 18, 2024, the International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy held a research workshop, where Elena Shakina, senior researcher of the laboratory, and her co-author, junior researcher Evgeniya Shenkman, presented the report "Skills over credentials: wage premiums and remote work in the post-pandemic economy".

September 6, IDLab hosted an academic seminar that brought together experts from the University of Vigo and lab staff to discuss a new study presented by lead researcher Elena Shakina. The study, co-authored with Angel Barajas and Natalia Volkova, was titled “Women and Men in Tech: Jobseeker's Contributions to Gender Wage Gap” and focused on the role of jobseekers in forming the gender wage gap in the IT sector.

The HSE Campus in St. Petersburg and VK have announced a partnership to implement academic and other projects. The partners will begin by creating the International Bachelor’s in Business and Economics programme at St. Petersburg School of Business. Key Things to Know About the New International Bachelor's in Business and Economics
In 2021, a new unique bachelor’s programme called ‘International Bachelor's in Business and Economics’ was launched at HSE – Saint Petersburg. This programme is the result of a merging of the previous bachelor's programmes in Economics and International Business and Management.
