Daria Maltseva, Ilya Petrov, and Polina Ermolaeva took part in the traditional general meeting of the University Consortium of Big Data Researchers, which took place on February 6 at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. Several other lab members, Irina Pavlova and Anna Kartasheva, participated in the event online.

Irina Pavlova, Academic Director of DASS and Deputy Head of ANR-Lab, discussed how bibliometric analysis helps scientists identify relevant research areas and discover fundamental scientific works.

Daria Maltseva and Irina Pavlova, members of the International Laboratory for Applied Network Research, served as experts in the in-person module of the All-Russian School of Applied Data Analysis, organized by the Data Diving Academy.

Under the guidance of memners from the International Laboratory for Applied Network Research, the first graduating class of the advanced training program “Networks Around Us: How to Analyze Interaction and Influence Using Network Analysis Methods” was held.

The authors of the program are Daniil Kovalev, Irina Pavlova, and Daria Maltseva, members of the International Laboratory of Applied Network Research.

From November 26-28, the ANR-Lab hosted the Autumn School 'From Data to Graphs: A Workshop on Bibliometric Network Analysis.'

ANR-Lab researchers Daniil Kovalev and Daria Maltseva presented a paper at the expert session 'Continuing Professional Education Trendwatchers' as part of the continuing professional education forum 'People and Competencies in the New Era.' The event took place on November 20–21, 2025, at the National Research University Higher School of Economics.

Researchers from the International Laboratory for Applied Network Research presented a case "Network Analysis for Labor Market Research: A Case Study of Data Analysis from the RosNavyk Platform." During the official part of the event, the Laboratory received a commendation for its collaboration with the Big Data Consortium and its contribution to organizing a series of seminars on the application of network analysis.

ANR-Lab Deputy Head Irina Pavlova and Research Assistant Daniil Kovalev participated in an expert analytical session dedicated to the workforce needs of the chemical industry. The event took place on October 2-3, 2025, in Ufa with the support of the University Consortium of Big Data Researchers and the Russian Union of Chemists as part of the national project "New Materials and Chemistry."

The Data Analytics and Social Statistics (DASS) educational programme and the International Laboratory for Applied Network Research, with support from HSE Online, have launched an English-language course in the Magolego module, "Social Network Analysis with R." The course focuses on network analysis methodology in R and is open to both DASS students and other HSE Master's students.

On September 18, the second seminar of the International Laboratory for Applied Network Analysis at the HSE University was held as part of a network project for the University Consortium of Big Data Researchers.

The team of the intercampus project “From Search to Analysis: A Complete Guide to Work with Scientific Literature” is launching a series of seminars to help the academic community of our university effectively navigate the rapidly changing world of scientific information. During October, leading experts from the Higher School of Economics will give 5 open lectures to a wide audience on the use of bibliometric and digital tools for literature search and analysis.

On August 24, in the HSE Online space on Bolotnaya Square, ANR-Lab, together with the Master's program "Data Analytics and Social Statistics", held a workshop "How can you become happier with the right networking?"

Since August 2025, Irina Pavlova has become the new academic director of the Master's program "Data Analytics and Social Statistics".

On August 6, as part of the V International Scientific Conference 'Interaction. Integration. Inclusion: from reflection to action', a section 'From nodes to connections: network analysis of integration in science and education' was held, organized by the International Laboratory of Applied Network Research.

Irina Pavlova, a lecturer in the DASS Master's program and deputy head of the ANR-Lab, was awarded the title of the best teacher of the Higher School by students of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Two projects involving ANR-Lab team won the competition of the academic personnel reserve for the implementation of inter-campus initiatives aimed at developing the university environment – the projects “From Search to Analysis: A Complete Guide to Working with Scientific Literature” and “HSE R Meetup: Meetups in the R Programming Language”.

The annual Sunbelt conference, the largest international conference on social network analysis, took place in Paris from June 23 to 29. ANR-Lab team participated online and offline, and in this material they share their reflections and impressions from the event.

On July 4, the graduation of the Master's program "Applied Statistics with Network Analysis", MASNA (now - "Data Analytics and Social Statistics", DASS) took place.

On July 11, the 16th Summer School of the International Laboratory of Applied Network Research (ANR-Lab) titled "Applied Network Analysis: From Idea to Project Implementation" concluded. The school took place on the campus at Pokrovsky Boulevard and simultaneously online. Over the course of five days, the instructors showcased the possibilities of applying applied network analysis, from the initial idea to the implementation of a project in scientific or practical fields.

On June 24, a webinar of the DASS Master's program was held, where the program's teacher and deputy head of the ANR-Lab, Irina Pavlova, spoke about how to create a portfolio for admission to the program.

The annual Sunbelt Conference was held in Paris, France, from 23 to 29 June. Sunbelt is the largest international conference on social network analysis organized by the International Association for Social Network Analysis (INSNA).

The spring on the master's program in Data Analytics and Applied Statistics (DASS) turned out to be eventful: we held a series of Open Days where we talked about learning opportunities, met with employees, teachers, students and graduate students, and shared the secrets of a successful start in the world of Data Analysis. ANR-Lab team participated in the 15th International Scientific Conference on Network Analysis (NET-2025), held on May 19-20 at the Nizhny Novgorod campus of HSE University.

The ANR-Lab team has registered a new result of intellectual activity 'Program for discourse analysis of interview texts in Russian using large language models'.

Deputy Head of ANR-Lab Irina Pavlova presented a plenary report 'Who are data analysts in Russia: how to analyze market demand based on materials from the hh.ru recruiting platform' at the IV All-Russian scientific conference with international participation in Yekaterinburg 'HR mission: trends, technologies, prospects in the context of global challenges', which was held on March 27-28, 2025.

On November 30, the Faculty of Social Sciences held an Open Day of educational programmes at the HSE University, where the master's programme 'Data Analytics and Social Statistics' was presented.

On November 9, a hybrid meetup was held by the International Laboratory for Applied Network Research (ANR-Lab) and the Master's programme 'Data Analytics and Social Statistics' (DASS). The event brought together students and graduates of the DASS (ex-MASNA) master's programme, team and friends of the laboratory to discuss how the programme is doing and what opportunities for collaboration exist.

Irina Pavlova and Stanislav Pashkov, teachers of the Data Analytics and Social Statistics programme, were chosen as the best in a vote by students of the Faculty of Social Sciences in 2024.

On July 18 at 18:30, the online programme 'Data Analytics and Social Statistics' held a seminar on the market for data analytics specialists.

A special issue of the journal 'Sociology: Methodology, Methods, Mathematical Modeling' (Sociology:4M) has been published, dedicated to the methodology of network analysis in social sciences. The guest editor of the issue was the head of ANR-Lab Daria Maltseva, and 3 out of 5 articles were written by the laboratory members.

There was a workshop on network analysis – three bright speakers told important, interesting and necessary things in an hour and a half.

ANR-Lab team gave presentations on the laboratory's ongoing research at the Sunbelt conference's online panel.

The webinar demonstrated examples of successful network visualizations, as well as pros and cons of different visualization programs. The webinar was conducted by Irina Pavlova, Deputy Head of ANR-Lab and DASS professor.

On June 5, Daria Maltseva, Irina Pavlova and Lika Kapustina spoke to the participants, organizers and alumni of the Academic Talent Pool of the Higher School of Economics with a workshop on "Network Analysis: Introduction to New Methodology".

On May 23–25, 2024, a joint visiting seminar of the Academic and Administrative Talent Pools “Project culture and project management at the university” was held at the Voronovo Educational Center of the National Research University Higher School of Economics.

On April 11-13, 2024, the International Grushin Sociological Conference was held in Moscow. This is the main annual event for everyone who studies public opinion, understands and explains social processes and phenomena. This year's theme is “Metamorphoses of society and the research industry: new challenges.” ANR-Lab team took part in the conference and shared their impressions of the event.

On March 30, the Data Analytics and Social Statistics programme held a series of events as part of an Open Day at the Faculty of Social Sciences. The programme of events assumed a hybrid format and included several presentations by representatives of the master's programme.

In the 2023/24 academic year, a group of 30 students began studying in the master’s programme 'Applied Statistics with Network Analysis Methods'. The school year officially started on October 2.

On September 4-8, the 7th European Conference on Social Networks EUSN 2023 was held in Ljubljana (Slovenia), where laboratory members presented their reports, learned about the latest developments in the field of network analysis, and also met with their colleagues from foreign universities.

From July 4–8, the 14th Summer School ‘Methods and Tools for Analysing Social Networks’ was held by the International Laboratory for Applied Network Research (ANR Lab). The dissemination of knowledge about the most recent methods of network analysis is one of the goals of the laboratory. Social network analysis is an interdisciplinary field that studies networks of interactions between different objects (such as people, organisations, institutions, countries, words in texts, texts on the internet) and identifying hidden patterns within them.

On July 8, the Summer School 'Methods and Tools for Analyzing Social Networks' ended. We present you a brief overview of the events that the ANR-Lab team held as part of the 14th Summer School.
