Moreover, a new project by the Centre for Student Academic Development was presented, the Republic of Scholars, which will help students conducting research communicate with each other and foster their academic development.
Over the course of its 15-year history, the Student Research Paper Competition has changed a lot and become an integral part of HSE life. According to Tatyana Zakharova, the competition coordinator, the competition idea was suggested by students in 2003. Today, the competition has grown a lot and includes 22 areas, with the number of applications growing each year. Since 2018, the competition has welcomed not only students and graduates of HSE, but representatives of other universities, including international ones, as well.
Over 250 students and graduates were recognized in the 2018 research paper competition.
Those present at the ceremony to personally congratulate the winners included Vadim Radaev, First Vice Rector of HSE, who has headed the competition organizing committee since its foundation, Maria Yudkevich, who supervises academic development at the university, and Ivan Gruzdev, who is responsible for student involvement in research. Andrey Kozhanov, Director of the Centre for Student Academic Development, spoke about the opportunities available to this year’s winners, such as travel grants for conferences and summer schools, as well as the Republic of Scholars, which is being created at HSE—a platform for academic communication for students who love research.
