On April 4th Marek Dabrowsky gave a public lecture on ‘The global economic crisis: some lessons for the economic theory and economic policy’ at the HSE. The event took place as part of the XII International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development.

The Largest in History French-Russian Scientific Conference

On October 28th and 29th, the French-Russian Scientific Conference ‘Economy, Politics, Society: New Challenges and Opportunities’ took place at the Higher School of Economics and brought together 250 Russian and 150 French participants. The forum was the largest scientific meeting in the history of French-Russian relations.

Education, education, education!

On October 12th Arnold Schwarzenegger, Governor of California, spoke to HSE students at a seminar organized by WWF Russia and the Higher School of Economics.

‘We Need to Overcome the Cultural Barrier’

On May 24th - 26th the Samuel P. Huntington Memorial Symposium on Culture, Cultural Change and Economic Development took place at the HSE. It was organized by the Cultural Change Institute (the Fletcher School, Tufts University, USA) and the Higher School of Economics. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev met with the Symposium participants.

Does Culture Matter for Development?

On April 15th a round-table discussion entitled ‘Does Culture Matter for Development?' took place at the Higher School of Economics. Chandran Kukathas, Professor at the London School of Economics, opened the discussion with his report. You can watch a video of the event here.

On April  7th a Plenary Session on 'Preserving the Nation: Demographic, Socioeconomic, and Political Context' took place at the HSE as part of the 11th International Conference on the Problems of Economic and Social Development. You can watch a video of the event here.

On March 1st a roundtable discussion entitled ‘Germany, Russia and Europe: Chances for the Growing Integration’ took place at the HSE. The event was organized on the initiative of the ‘Liberal Mission’ Foundation with the support of Friedrich Naumann Foundation. Werner Hoyer, Minister of State at the Foreign Office of Germany spoke at the meeting.

The Planet in the 21st Century: We’ll have to Negotiate

On September 24th a roundtable discussion on ‘Geopolitical Consequences of the Financial Crisis. A New World Financial Order?’ took place at the HSE. It was organized by the ‘Liberalnaya Missiya' (‘Liberal Mission') Foundation and during the event Deepak Lal, Yegor Gaidar, Vladimir Mau and Evgeniy Yasin discussed what’s going on in the world.
