Categories of Academic Merit Bonus Recipients

Categories of recipients of Tier 1 Academic Merit Bonuses for academic work are as follows:

  • teachers who work full-time at HSE University’s regional campuses: HSE University in Perm and HSE University in Nizhny Novgorod;
  • staff members of HSE University and its regional campuses who are classified as academic staff (chief research fellows, leading research fellows, senior research fellows, research fellows, junior research fellows), research assistants, managerial staff, as well as heads of research subdivisions who work full-time and are engaged in teaching activities at the University or its regional campuses for at least a 0.25 FTE (full-time equivalent). The bonus shall be set proportional to the share of the pay rate in place for faculty staff members.

Candidates may be eligible for a Tier 1 bonus for academic work after they have reached the required amount of point awarded for the results of academic activities in accordance with the RPA Regulations. The Office for Academic Research obtains information on candidates’ publications from databases on the portal as of June 20.

Categories of recipients of Tier 2 Academic Merit Bonuses for academic success and contributions to the University’s academic reputation are as follows:

  • teachers at HSE University and its regional campuses working full-time;
  • academic staff (chief research fellows, leading research fellows, senior research fellows, research fellows, junior research fellows) and employees engaged in managerial work, as well as heads of research subdivisions at HSE University and its regional campuses working full-time and engaged in teaching activities with the teaching load being at least 0.25 FTE.

Categories of recipients of Tier 3 Academic Merit Bonuses are as follows:

  • teachers of HSE University and its regional campuses, working full-time or as affiliated employees;
  • academic staff (except research assistants), managerial staff, as well as heads of research subdivisions at HSE University and its regional campuses working full-time or as affiliated employees engaged in teaching activities with the teaching load being at least 0.1 FTE, with minimal teaching load (with due consideration of reductions for various reasons) coming to at least 60 (sixty) hours. The share of faculty’s pay rate shall be set from September 1 when Academic Merit Bonuses are assigned for the current academic year.
  • academic staff (chief research fellows, leading research fellows, senior research fellows, research fellows, junior research fellows), and employees engaged in managerial work, as well as the heads of research subdivisions at HSE University and its regional campuses working full-time and provided that the teaching load was met in the previous academic year. An assessment of the results of teaching activities shall be carried out on the basis of reports entered into the automated ASAV system by July 15.

Categories of Academic Merit Bonus recipients for regular publications in international peer-reviewed scholarly journals:

  • teachers at HSE University and its regional campuses working full-time;
  • academic staff (chief research fellows, leading research fellows, senior research fellows, research fellows, junior research fellows) and managerial staff, as well as heads of research subdivisions at HSE University and its regional campuses who have worked full-time and have been engaged in teaching activities at no less than 0.1 FTE (at least 60 (sixty) teaching hours) or have delivered a teaching load at no less than 60 (sixty) hours in the previous academic year.

Categories of recipients of Academic Merit Bonuses for making a considerable contribution to HSE University’s international academic reputation (mega bonus):

  • teachers of HSE University and its regional campuses working full-time or as affiliated employees;
  • academic staff (except research assistants), managerial staff, as well as heads of research subdivisions at HSE University and its regional campuses who have worked full-time and have been engaged in teaching activities at no less than 0.1 FTE (at least 60 (sixty) teaching hours) or have delivered a teaching load at no less than 60 (sixty) hours in the previous academic year.
