From October 13-14 a seminar on ‘Foresight and S&T and innovation policy: best practices’ took place at the HSE. The event was organized by the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge. The first day of the seminar was dedicated to relevant problems of Foresight studies, and the second one to the problems of innovation policy in different countries. On 13 October 2011 Alexey Zaharov (senior research fellow at the LCSR) and Alexey Bessudnov (research fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies) gave a talk on “Experimental studies of dicrimination in the labor market in Moscow".
October 13th held a regular scientific seminar of the series "Culture Matters". A presentation “Comparative study of methods measuring values or “If we've got questions, then they've got answers” was made by Dmitry Podolsky, Ph.D., senior researcher at Moscow State University.
On 11 October 2011 Prof. Vladimir Mayer (CNRS, France) devilered a seminar on "Recent evolution in the organization of CNRS; increasing impact of public research in the society of innovation".
Egor Lazarev, junior research assistant at LCSR, presented his report “Land, Votes and Violence: Political Effects of the Insecurity of Property Rights over Land in Dagestan” on October 6th. Egor reported from the University of Michigan, where he is currently Carnegie visiting scholar.
On October 4th Peter Schwartz, a world renowned futurist and Honorary Professor of the HSE, spoke at a seminar organized by the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge.
On October 3rd Jacques-Francois Thisse, Professor of Economics and Regional Science at the Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium) gave a press conference at the Higher School of Economics.
On September 29 was the regular seminar in the St. Petersburg. The research fellow Julia Zelikova delivered a report on “Anticapitalism in Ex-Communist Countries”. The study carried out by Julia Zelikova attempts to explain why people from ex-communist countries have more strong anti-capitalist sentiments and to explain the difference in capitalistic commitments in various ex-communist countries.
