HSE University to Launch New AI Supercomputer
HSE University is preparing to launch its second supercomputer. The new cluster will be primarily dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) workloads and will complement the existing cHARISMa supercomputer. It is scheduled to become operational by the end of 2026.

Evgeny N. Knyazev, Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Physiology at the HSE University Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, has been included in the fifth season of "The Faces of Science" — Russia's major portrait exhibition dedicated to scientists behind breakthrough discoveries. Evgeny Knyazev was selected as a laureate of the Moscow Government Award for Young Scientists; the opening ceremony took place on 5 June 2026 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

The neural network analysed nearly a million 12×12 m plots and found that the rate of shrub spread varies from 2.4% to 26.1% per decade, depending on local conditions. The study showed that mature shrubs prefer well-drained slopes, while new colonisation occurs on flatter areas, which opens up opportunities for predicting further shrubification of the Arctic under climate change conditions
