Аннотация

The course is designed to introduce students to the concept of business strategy and business model as well as provide working knowledge of the analytical tools and frameworks used in decision-making. An effective business strategy and model enables a company to follow sustainable development and dominate the market over the long run facing a dynamic economic environment marked by uncertainty and contingencies. Strategic decision-making is not made in a vacuum, and external actions require reactions. A company's relationships with different economic agents play critical roles in decision-making and constrain or enhance the value that a company creates and extracts. Throughout the course, a particular emphasis will be on factors that affect the decision-making process while designing and implementing strategy. The course presents students not only with a mix of cases and theoretical concepts but also with frameworks and techniques that let them analyze business situations in a structured way. Additionally, the course proceeds from the assumption that more and more businesses are digital or experience comprehensive digital transformation nowadays. Thus, special attention will be devoted to cases that discuss situations and companies from the digital world.
