Banking Institute invites master students to participate in Intensive Programme "Sustainable Banking and Finance"

The programme is organized by a consortium of European universities and aimed to develop awareness of what sustainable banking and finance is in the perspective of the current financial and economic situation


This year the programme will be hosted by the University of Economics in Katowice, Poland.
The broad area of the programme is sustainable banking and finance. The programme connects theory with practice and tries to approach the notion of sustainability in different contexts and different countries. Lecturers from many countries have created a programme that is unique and very relevant in today’s economic situation.

The participation in the project includes:

One week intensive study in international working groups in the University of Economics in Katowice from April 3, 2017 to April 7, 2017;

Guest lectures of experts from different financial institutions;
-
Excursions to financial organisations;
-
Social and cultural events.

By guest lectures, excursions and by working in international groups you:

- will develop awareness of what sustainable banking and finance is in the perspective of the current financial and economic situation;
- will, together with students from other countries, look for possible solutions to enhance sustainable financial companies;
- will increase your cross cultural competence and your online skills;
- will learn a lot about Poland and all other European countries.

The programme brings together the students and teachers from:
- CEU San Pablo University Madrid (Spain);
- Centria University of Applied Sciences (Finland);
- University College Gent (Belgium);
- Higher School of Economics (Russia);
- Inholland University of Applied Sciences (NL);
- University of Economics in Katowice (Poland);
- London South Bank University (U.K.);
- University of Finance and Administration Prague (CZ).


There are six topics that will be studied within the programme:
1. Financial regulation/anti money laundering;
2. Taxation and fiscal regulation;
3. Corporate Governance/Bonuses and Motivation;
4. Banking 2020 and beyond/the influence of Fintech;
5. Alternative ways of financing and sustainable investment;
6. Social responsible investment.

Every participant of the programme must choose a topic of interest and study the assigned topic at the home institution in order to produce an individual paper on it. The participants will also be required to write, with the other students from your institution, a group paper about the consequences aftermath of the financial crisis in your own country. During the preparatory period at home you will be introduced to ‘collaborative online international learning’. This means that you will already form an international group on your topic together with the students from the partner universities who have also studied your topic. You will meet your fellow topic students online on the digital learning environment ‘Blackboard’ and you will already start working with them before you all meet in Poland. During the IP week in Poland your international topic group will study further this area, addressing it from different and international perspectives.
