On 25 April 2020 the online awards ceremony of the Jessup 2020 competition aired from Washington D.C. It is with great honor that we have come to realise that HSE’s memorials have been awarded 7^th place out of more than 700 teams competing worldwide and 150 teams qualified for the international rounds. Last year HSE scored world’s 1^st place best memorial (for the first time for Russian teams in the history of competition), and a year earlier – 6^th place.

The Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (ZEvA) has recognized the Master’s programme'Private International Law' and the Master's Programme inInternational Trade, Finance, and Economic Integration Law as meeting international quality standards of education. Both programmes are accredited for six years without additional conditions.

The HSE Faculty of Law team successfully performed in the European regional rounds of the John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition on WTO law, held in Czech Republic, Brno on 2-6 March 2020. This year the strongest teams from all over Europe participated in the Competition. The HSE team won the award for the best сomplainant written submission, as well as the award for the  best overall written submission.

For students interested in pursuing careers in international law or economic integration, HSE University’s Faculty of Law offers the Master’s Programme ‘Law of International Trade, Finance and Economic Integration’. Previously taught in both Russian and English, the programme is now taught in English only. HSE News Service spoke with two first-year international students about their studies, living in Moscow, and their overall impressions of the programme.

On 2 February 2020 MGIMO hosted the Final Round of the Russian National Championship of the Jessup Competition – one of the most prestigious law competitions globally. The Team of Higher School of Economics (Moscow) appeared in the Final Round of the National Championship for the first time since 2017, and came as a Russian Runner-Up, after the champions of this year – the MGIMO team.

This year, our students reached the quarterfinals of the Foreign Direct Investment Moot Court (“FDI Moot"), the most prestigious competition in the field of international investment arbitration. 57 teams from around the world participated in this year’s edition of FDI Moot. The competition was held in Miami, Florida, USA.

HSE took 94^th place in the THE ranking in Business & Economics, outperforming all the other Russian universities in this subject. In addition, the university entered the ranking in Law for the first time (151+ cohort), becoming the only Russian university represented there.
