Valery Katkalo, former Dean of Sberbank Corporate University, will be taking on the role of HSE Vice Rector for Continuing Education. HSE Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov announced the appointment at the Staff and Student Conference, which was held in Moscow.

On March 12 and 13 the Faculty of Economic Sciences at HSE hosted Professor Cristina Rovera of the University of Turin who delivered two lectures about crowdfunding. ‘Russia and Italy can share our experiences, activities, and professional research,’ the Italian professor noted. ‘Last year, Professor Irina Ivashkovskaya (HSE) came to Italy to teach Corporate Finance. This marked the beginning of a profitable relationship, and I hope it turns into something long-term.’

This is the fourth food point in the building – there are already two cafeterias and a cafe . In addition to traditional food-serving counters, the new cafeteria will feature a salad bar and an open kitchen, where Italian pizza will be cooked.

On March 20, a conference of HSE staff and students will take place at HSE. It will consider the university’s development programme and elect the new Academic Council. The previous conference took place five years ago, in 2014, and the university has changed a lot since then. Since February 19, HSE community members have been able to get vaccinated against measles. All students, faculty, and staff, including foreign citizens, can get vaccinated for free. Remember—measles is an extremely dangerous and contagious disease that can only be prevented by getting vaccinated. There is still time to get vaccinated: the vaccination period has now been extended by one day to include February 22.

Last week, over 140 HSE students and graduates were awarded certificates in honour of the quality of their research in HSE’s 2018 Research Paper Competition. In addition to receiving the traditional awards, guests received some exciting news: 1) students are now invited to participate in SciCasting, a research blogger competition; and 2) the winners of the 2018 research paper competition will receive travel grants.

LG Electronics and the Higher School of Economics have announced the launch of a special collaborative educational project. A new computer classroom will provide students of engineering, industrial design, and computer programming the opportunity to study the most modern tools and methods of design using equipment designed for rapidly developing disciplines and the higher technological demands of their results. With a 21:9 aspect ratio, these monitors are currently the most conducive to solving such complex tasks at work and in school.
