On December 4, the International Advisory Board of the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge of HSE University met for its annual meeting. It was an anniversary event, as was the X Foresight Conference that preceded it. Largely thanks to the online format, the assembled board was the most representative of the field in its history. Experts from 20 international partner centres assessed ISSEK’s activities over the past year and proposed a wide range of topics for new research.

On November 26, the IIMS and ICSID director Andrei Yakovlev was invited to the BRI online-forum (China) on Global Cooperation of Public Health and SMEs Innovation & Development as a key-note speaker and gave a lecture "The response of Russian Firms to the Covid-19 pandemic and economic crisis – the cases of IT and tourism".

On Wednesday, November 25, the National Research University Higher School of Economics hosted an Institute of Control Sciences seminar "Expert opinion and data analysis".

This November, Jorge Luis Méndez Martínez, Research Assistant at the HSE International Laboratory for Logic, Linguistics and Formal Philosophy presented his report on Acoustic Mereotopolgy at the research seminar ‘From the Logical Point of View’. The sector of science, technology and innovation (STI) is even more nonlinear and complex than the world behind the looking glass from the Lewis Carroll’s story. For companies and countries wishing to claim or secure leadership, it is no longer enough to simply run all guns blazing to stay in the competition over global chains, or even run twice as fast to occupy higher positions. Which strategies lead to success, which skillsets are required for effective management in STI, what trends and metrics should be taken into account, all this was discussed by the members of X International Academic Conference in Foresight and STI on the wide spectrum of county cases and industries, paying special attention to the context of COVID-19.
