Science towns are becoming serious players in the national strategic planning system. The federal law “On the Science Town Status” becomes valid in the next year, obliging the local authorities to design long-term socio-economic development strategies. Science towns’ mayors, members of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, and experts from the Higher School of Economics discussed practical aspects of meeting the law’s requirements at a conference hosted by HSE on 5 July.

Science towns’ mayors, members of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, and experts from the Higher School of Economics discussed practical aspects of meeting the law’s requirements at a conference hosted by HSE on 5 July.

The book  is written by B.Ganter and S.Obiedkov. Bernhard Ganter is emeritus professor of mathematics at Technische Universität Dresden, Germany. His main research field is Formal Concept Analysis. Sergei Obiedkov  is an Research Fellow at the ISSA Laboratory and an associate professor at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, Moscow. His research covers topics in data analysis and artificial intelligence, including logical and algorithmic aspects.

Higher School of Economics in Moscow hosted a 5^th annual conference of the International Center for the Study of Institutions and Development (ICSID) «Political Economy of Inequality» on June 20-22, 2016. 

On June 23th, Evgenia G. Nemirovskaya (MSc Psychology, prospective doctoral student at HSE) presented her report on Psychological Well-being of Jewish Emigrants at the research seminar 'Culture Matters'.

Laboratory staff took part in the Sixth International Workshop on Computational Social Choice, as well as COST Action Industry Day, which took place on June 21-24, 2016 in Toulouse (France).

On June 23, 2016, members of the ICSID team Thomas Remington, Israel Marques and Vladimir Bazavliuk visited the automobile plant of Volkswagen Group Rus and its vocational education facilities in the town of Kaluga.   

The festival Geek Picnic took place in Moscow in June 18 and 19.

In the XI International Forum on Knowledge Assets Dynamics “Towards a new architecture of Knowledge: Big Data, Culture & Creativity” which was held in Dresden (Germany), Anna Bykova has presented the study “Investigation of the corporate performance gap between foreign- and domestic-owned firms: the evidence from Russian companies” which was done in co-authorship with Carlos Jardon.
