Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course introduces the application of ethical theory and practice to business management. It helps to develop analytical skills for addressing ethical dilemmas in the workplace. The aim of the course is to provide students with a basis for reflection on issues relating to both personal and business ethics. It covers the basics of ethics in general, in management and in business; ethical theories and tests. Learning objectives: • Demonstrate a theoretical and critical understanding of the understanding salient theories, principles and concepts explaining ethical business environment • Critically analyse the ethical environment of an organization/industry and evaluate the ethical constraints and opportunities facing an organization/industry • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the ethical business environment • Become familiar with the benefits of corporate social responsibility in the context of globalized economic and social relations • Identify consequences of unethical business activities

  • The aim of this course is to introduce students to the fundamental principles of business ethics and sustainable development, equipping them with the knowledge and critical thinking skills to recognize ethical dilemmas in business practices, evaluate the impact of organizational decisions on stakeholders and the environment, and apply basic frameworks for promoting responsible and sustainable business operations in a global context.

  • Explain core concepts: Students will be able to explain the key principles of business ethics, including ethical theories, corporate social responsibility, and the triple bottom line of sustainable development.

    An interactive presentation (IP) is a form of educational material prepared by a group of students. It includes elements of active interaction with the audience. The main goal of an IP is not only to convey key points on the chosen topic, but also to stimulate students to participate in the learning process through various forms of involvement, such as quizzes, surveys, games, cases, crosswords, scenes [сценки] or other activities. An IP promotes a deeper understanding of the material, develops critical thinking and creates conditions for collective knowledge sharing between seminar participants. Every seminar starts with an IP In groups of 2 or max.3 people Maximum 12 minutes IP may be in any graphic editor or without it (if it is done orally) only the main points of the topic no plagiarism = DO NOT repeat lectures’ material [не повторяйте лекции] developing your own examples based on theory [свои собственные примеры] should have active interaction with the audience use professional literature, business cases and recommendations – REFERENCES! Are all students comfortable participating in the interactive? (1 point) How interesting, unusual, original is the format? (1,5 point) Usefulness in terms of consolidating theoretical knowledge (1,5 point) Content (4 points): facts, theory, examples - how much the topic is covered

    Active participation in seminars, participation in discussions, and the desire to answer the teacher’s questions are assessed.
