Abstract

This course introduces students to the media and information dimensions of contemporary international relations, showing how uneven digitalization shapes both global and regional media systems. It examines how traditional and new media, communication technologies, and information flows support international interaction and influence political, economic, social, and cultural dynamics worldwide. Students will study how states, international organizations, non-state actors, and global publics use information for influence, cooperation, and competition. The course explores the evolution of global communication networks, the impact of digital technologies on diplomacy and security, and the growing role of information power. By the end, students will be able to assess information and communication strategies in world politics and understand media as a key element of global power.
