Course Syllabus

Abstract

This course introduces master's students in Finance to the theory and practice of innovation and entrepreneurship. The course bridges financial expertise with entrepreneurial thinking, equipping students to identify and evaluate innovation opportunities, understand venture financing and startup ecosystems, apply design thinking, lean startup, and evidence-based entrepreneurship methodologies, and manage innovation within established organisations (corporate entrepreneurship). Drawing on frameworks from MIT Sloan, Harvard Business School, Stanford, and Wharton, the course combines rigorous conceptual foundations with practical application through case analyses, opportunity assessment, business model development, and a team-based Innovation Project. Students will develop the skills needed to assess investment opportunities in innovative ventures, evaluate technology-driven and AI-enabled business models, and lead entrepreneurial initiatives in financial services and beyond.
