Course Syllabus
Abstract
This course introduces modern methods of the project organization and execution and teaches students the basics of traditional and new Agile project management techniques emerging from the industry practice and research works. The first part of the course is devoted to the study of the traditional, plan-driven project management, its tools, templates, and processes. The second part focuses on Agile methods in the conditions of uncertainty. Each part contains the formulation of the basic concepts and principles as well as the material necessary to acquire practical skills how to use modern project management techniques.
Learning Objectives
- This course examines the theoretical foundations of both predictive and agile project management, grounding students in the core principles, value-delivery frameworks, and performance domains emphasized in the PMBOK® Guide 8th Edition. Students will explore how traditional predictive methodologies ensure structure, governance, and efficiency in stable environments, while agile and hybrid approaches foster adaptability, iterative delivery, and resilience amid uncertainty. Through hands-on seminars, sample projects, and a modern digital toolkit, students will translate theory into practice by developing project charters and plans, Scrum artifacts, risk registers, and tailored communication and quality plans.

Assessment Elements
- ExamWritten examination with three questions. Time for the answer is 40 minutes
- Student’s participation in the educational projectThe teams complete project tasks in the interval between seminars (project increment) and present the results of the work during the next seminar (5 increments in total).

Interim Assessment
