Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course explores the dynamic relationship between politics and media in contemporary societies. It investigates how political actors, institutions, and publics interact through various media ecosystems, and how media practices shape political perception, agenda-setting, framing, and public discourse. A central component of the course is students’ engagement with both classical and modern political theories as well as theories of international relations. Through critical reading and discussion, students will situate empirical media phenomena within enduring theoretical frameworks, examining concepts such as power, legitimacy, ideology, representation, and strategic communication.
