Abstract

Ensuring the efficient and stable operation of Internet of Things systems requires a reliable network infrastructure with internet and cloud service access, while also providing local management and offline edge computing. Unlike traditional computer networks, IoT/CPS networks feature a large number of devices with different architectures, varying hardware platforms, and significantly different functionality. Consequently, operating such networks requires routing, monitoring, and management tools. Over the past 25 years, open-source software-based tools designed to address these challenges have been developed, successfully developed, and are being deployed worldwide. As a rule, these tools are based on specialized versions of Linux and inherit all *NIX network technologies, supplementing them with specialized IoT/CPS tools. The course assumes consideration of the following tools based on open source software:– OpenWRT – basic software for IoT/CPS network routers– OpenVPN – a system for building geographically distributed IoT/CPS networks based on Internet routing– OpenWISP – a system for monitoring and configuring distributed networks of IoT/CPS devices– OpenStack – a set of systems designed to create infrastructure cloud services and cloud storage that can be used in IoT/CPS networksThe course also assumes consideration of basic network technologies for routing, masquerading, forwarding, and ensuring information security in IoT/CPS networks, as well as the application of DevOps methods for building, deploying, and operating networks of IoT/CPS devices.
Learning Objectives
