Course Syllabus
Abstract
In today’s rapidly evolving technological and business landscapes, the ability to adapt quickly and deliver continuous value is paramount for success in IT project management. This comprehensive course offers an in-depth introduction to agile methodologies and their practical application within diverse IT project environments. A particular focus is placed on fostering effective collaboration within interdisciplinary teams, bridging the gap between business objectives and technological implementation.
Students will delve into prominent agile frameworks, including Scrum, Kanban, and Extreme Programming. The curriculum is designed to provide a robust theoretical foundation alongside extensive hands-on experience, ensuring a practical understanding of these methods. A cornerstone of the course is the exploration of the Agile Manifesto, emphasizing its core values and guiding principles that underpin all agile practices. Furthermore, the course equips students with essential tools and techniques for iterative planning, fostering seamless stakeholder collaboration, and consistently delivering valuable increments throughout the project lifecycle. By the end of this course, participants will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate complex IT projects with agility and efficiency, contributing to organizational success in a dynamic environment.

- Understand the rationale and evolution of agile methods in contrast to traditional (waterfall) models.
- Learn the structure and roles within Scrum, including Product Owner, Scrum Master, and Development Team.
- Apply Kanban principles for visualizing work and managing flow.
- Explore agile practices such as user stories, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Learn how to estimate work using story points, planning poker, and velocity tracking.
- Discuss hybrid and scaled agile approaches.
- Apply agile thinking through simulations, case studies, and a group project.

- ExamThe exam is taken in a written format using closed and open questions. Depending on the availability it might be organized in StartExam or LMS, or via online platform in real-time. No resource consultation is allowed (closed-book).
