Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course explores China's strategy for trade and economic cooperation with other countries and approaches to implementing interstate and regional free trade zones. Practical aspects of China's "opening policy" and interactions with foreign investors and the business community will also be covered.

Learning Objectives

  • • The learning objective of the course is to provide students with essential knowledge of China’s current role in the world economy, as well as history and driving forces for its ascension to the position of “world factory”, top exporting country and its strive to become leading technological superpower. The course will elaborate into China’s economic relations with world major powers, analyze China’s approach to establishing free trade zones regionally and globally. China’s concept of “openness” will also be a major topic of the course. Finally the four governance initiatives of China – mostly in regard with global economic development - will be touched upon
