Course Syllabus
Abstract
The discipline is dedicated to the research of "second-wave" digital technologies (generative AI, algorithmic systems, gig economy) and the analysis of their large-scale impact on global markets, institutions, and social structure. The course is interdisciplinary, combining the tools of micro- and macroeconomics, institutional analysis, and digital platform theory. Students will study not only the theoretical concepts of digitalization but also applied mechanisms of business process transformation through solving business cases.
Learning Objectives
- To form a comprehensive understanding of digital technologies (generative AI, algorithmic systems, and platform ecosystems) and their fundamental impact on global market institutions.
- To teach the methodology of long-term analysis of production factors, automation processes, and labor substitution in the context of the gig economy development.
- To train in the tools of business process management and algorithmic management for solving practical cases on the digital transformation of organizations.
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Ability to analyze the long-term effects of AI deployment and automation on total factor productivity
- Ability to evaluate change strategies during the deployment of digital technologies in enterprises
- Skills in critical analysis of regulatory policies across countries regarding platform monopolies and ecosystems
