Программа дисциплины
Аннотация
The course is aimed to introduce the students to the theory of meaning and mothodology of linguistic analysis known as the Natural Semantic Metalanguage (NSM)
Цель освоения дисциплины
- demonstrate understanding of some of the main methods and approaches to meaning analysis used in linguistics today
- describes and explains semantic issues arising in a number of domains: emotion terminology, natural kind terms, speech acts, artifacts.
- describes and explains ways in which words and grammatical constructions of a language may be culture-related
- employs one particular method of semantic analysis (the reductive paraphrase or NSM method) across a range of semantic domains
- applies corpus techniques in the analysis of meaning
- demonstrates understanding of meaning analysis in applied linguistics and other disciplines
Планируемые результаты обучения
- Knows the basic principles of lexical organization, the main parameters of semantic variations in lexicon
- Students can analyse the semantic structure of a polysemantic word.
- - develop knowledge about semantic universals in language and their universal syntactic properties
- applies Minimal Language based on semantic universals and semantic molecules to fomulate messages and ideas in language teaching, cross-cultural communication, or other areas
- demonstrates understanding of the nature of meaning and its role in language
