Course Syllabus

Abstract

This course is designed for those students who do not have experience in learning Russian as a Foreign Language. When mastering the discipline «Russian 1", the student will obtain basic knowledge of the vocabulary and grammar of the Russian language, develop the basic language skills of writing, reading, listening and speaking.

Learning Objectives

• The formation and development of foreign language communicative competence at the basic level (ТБУ) of the international exam in Russian as a foreign language, and implying the student's readiness and ability to engage in everyday communication in Russian in any communicative situations and academic communication in the simplest communicative situations.

Expected Learning Outcomes

• Participate in a simple conversation in Russian, including those typical in the academic communication sphere.
• Understand individual ideas, fragments, and sentences of oral and written texts in Russian, including those typical of the academic communication sphere.
• Create simple short oral and written texts in Russian, clearly expressing thoughts using mainly simple sentences.

Assessment Elements

• Classroom work / Аудиторная работа
  This control element comprehensively assesses the student's preparedness for the class, including the completion of homework, their engagement in the learning process and language activity (initiative in responses, participation in dialogues), as well as the quality of all types of work performed in the classroom. It is evaluated in each class on a scale from 0 to 3 points. The final grade is calculated according to the percentage formula: Accumulated score * 10 / Out of a maximum score. / Данный элемент контроля комплексно оценивает подготовленность студента к занятию, в том числе выполнение домашнего задания, его вовлечённость в учебный процесс и языковую активность (инициатива в ответах, участие в диалогах), а также качество выполнения всех видов работы в аудитории. Оценивается на каждом занятии по системе от 0 до 3 баллов. Итоговая оценка рассчитывается согласно процентной формуле: О накопленный балл * 10 / О максимальный балл.
• Current assessment / Текущий контроль
  This control element is aimed at assessing the student's system of linguistic knowledge (phonetics, vocabulary, grammar), as well as the development of their language skills and speech abilities. The results of the current assessment allow the student to receive timely feedback and serve as the basis for adjusting their individual educational path. Current assessment may include phonetic, lexical, and grammatical tests, listening and reading tasks, as well as assignments for creating oral (e.g., monologue, dialogue, presentation) and written (e.g., letter, paragraph, essay) speech products. Current assessment is conducted in a classroom format and includes 6 to 8 units (with 4 pairs per week) / 3 to 4 units (with 2 pairs per week) in 1-2 modules and 8 to 10 units (with 4 pairs per week) / 4 to 5 units (with 2 pairs per week) in 3-4 modules. The final grade is the arithmetic mean of all grades for the units of current assessment. The final grade is not rounded. / Данный элемент контроля является направленным на проверку системы лингвистических (фонетика, лексика, грамматика) знаний студента, а также сформированности его языковых навыков и речевых умений. Результаты текущего контроля позволяют студенту получить своевременную обратную связь и служат основой для коррекции индивидуального образовательного маршрута. Текущий контроль может включать фонетические, лексические, грамматические тесты, задания на аудирование и чтение, а также задания на создание устных (например, монолог, диалог, презентация) и письменных (например, письмо, параграф, эссе) речевых продуктов. Текущий контроль проводится в аудиторном формате и включает от 6 до 8 единиц (при 4 парах в неделю) / от 3 до 4 единиц (при 2 парах в неделю) в 1-2 модулях и от 8 до 10 единиц (при 4 парах в неделю) / от 4 до 5 единиц (при 2 парах в неделю) в 3-4 модулях. Итоговая оценка составляет среднее арифметическое всех оценок за единицы текущего контроля. Итоговая оценка не округляется.
• Intermediate assessment / Рубежный контроль
  This control element is aimed at a comprehensive assessment of the level of formation of the student's speech skills and serves as an indicator of their progress in learning a foreign language. Intermediate assessment is conducted in a classroom format after mastering the basic language material once per module. The milestone assessment includes tasks to check receptive types of speech activities (reading or listening) and productive types of speech activities (writing (in the module when no exam is conducted) or speaking (in the module when an exam is conducted)). The final grade is the arithmetic mean of all grades for the checkpoints. The final grade is not rounded. Evaluation is carried out according to the criteria. /Данный элемент контроля является направленным на комплексную проверку уровня сформированности речевых умений студента и служит индикатором его прогресса в изучении иностранного языка. Рубежный контроль проводится в аудиторном формате после освоения базового массива языкового материала один раз в модуль. Рубежный контроль включает задания на проверку рецептивных видов речевой деятельности (чтение или аудирование) и продуктивных видов речевой деятельности (письмо (в модуль, когда не проводится экзамен) или говорение (в модуль, когда проводится экзамен). Итоговая оценка составляет среднее арифметическое всех оценок за единицы рубежного контроля. Итоговая оценка не округляется. Оценивание осуществляется согласно критериям.
• Final written assignment / Итоговая письменная работа
  This assessment element comprehensively evaluates the level of the student's lexical and grammatical skills, listening and reading abilities, as well as the capacity to conduct effective written communication in a foreign language across various speech situations. The final written assignment is conducted at the end of the study module and includes four sections: 1. Vocabulary and grammar, 2. Reading, 3. Listening, 4. Writing. The maximum score for each section is 10, and the weight of each section in the final grade is 25%. The final maximum score is 10. / Данный элемент контроля комплексно оценивает уровень сформированности лексических и грамматических навыков студента, навыков и умений аудирования и чтения, а также способность вести эффективную письменную коммуникацию на иностранном языке в различных речевых ситуациях. Итоговая письменная работа проводится в конце учебного модуля и включает четыре раздела: 1. Лексика и грамматика, 2. Чтение, 3. Аудирование, 4. Письмо. Максимальный балл за каждый раздел составляет 10, вес каждого раздела в итоговой оценке составляет 25%. Итоговый максимальный балл - 10.
• Oral exam / Устный экзамен
  This assessment element evaluates the student's ability to engage in effective oral communication in a foreign language across various speech situations, including with the support of written text. / Данный элемент контроля оценивает способность студента осуществлять эффективную устную коммуникацию на иностранном языке в различных речевых ситуациях, в том числе с опорой на письменный текст.
