Abstract
The research seminar is designed for second-year Bachelor’s students enrolled in the Physics degree programme. It is divided into two parts.
The first part introduces the fundamental concepts of linear operators and bilinear forms, tensor algebra, and manifolds. The seminar develops students’ ability to use abstract mathematical structures in physical contexts, formulate problems in coordinate-free language, and apply appropriate mathematical methods to theoretical and research tasks. Particular attention is paid to connecting formal definitions with physical interpretation and to developing skills in reading, discussing, and presenting mathematical and physical arguments.
The second part of the course is aimed at training future specialists in competencies in the field of research activities, studying by students the main forms and methods of conducting scientific and research work for students at the university.
Learning Objectives
- To obtain basic knowledge for further scientific and research work.
- To development students' competencies in the field of scientific research activities and present the main forms and methods of conducting scientific research work (NIRS) at the university to students.
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Successfully solves problems on the topic
- Uses terminology on the topic correctly.
- Uses the mathematical apparatus correctly.
- The student analyzes and interprets the content of a scientific publication and the experimental techniques used in the work.
- The student decides on the necessary experimental methodology to solve experimental problems in solid-state physics.
- The student analyzes and interprets the content of a scientific publication and the mathematical methods used in the work.
