Course Syllabus

Abstract

This blended-learning course examines the theories and practices of international human resource management (IHRM) in global corporations. The course addresses the core issues in IHRM and the ways to overcome them from the standpoint of the business leader. The topics of the course can be divided into three broad themes: (1) what should leader expect from IHRM, how to cascade business objectives toward people, organization, and HR objectives, how to set up metrics and evaluate success (2) what are the main P&O (people & organization) as well as HR challenges leaders face in global corporations (3) how to resolve those global challenges and what are the tools, practices and technologies that can help and whether IHRM career fit my personal career goal .

  • • be aware on how to respond to today's challenges (innovations, continuous improvement, disruption management, mental wellbeing, burnout, stress management etc.)
  • • understand role IHR manager at creating an employer brand, talent management, recruitment and selection, onboarding processes
  • • know which tech tools & practices fit • set objectives for HR managers, assess the quality of HR strategy, understand the HR metrics

Assessment Elements

Assessment Elements

  • non-blocking Seminar Individual and Group Activities
    Students are expected to complete all required readings, demonstrate attentiveness in class and participate actively in course activities and discussion. Individual or team case studies and valuable questions, comments and/or answers, awarded by the lecturer when they are valid and valuable for the whole group and brought students further in their understanding and case studies solution.
  • non-blocking Essay
    Individual written work is an analytical report on a particular aspect of International HRM (volume of 4-5 pages, 2000-3000 words). Topic should be proposed by the student and confirmed individually by the lecturer. The essay should cover both theoretical and practical aspects of the chosen topic. The students have to write an essay based on a topic, where they could apply the theories that have been studied during the lectures and seminars.
  • non-blocking Exam
    2-hour final exam on all the topics. Conducted offline in a form of written essay. Essay is an written answer on a particular topic (volume of 2-3 pages, 2000-3000 words). Exam results are announced in several days after the exam is taken.
