Course Syllabus
Abstract
Practical Trading is an optional one semester course.As part of the course, students will learn both theoretical methods of analyzing financial markets and empirical / practical strategies, trading systems, tactics and techniques used in real trading on both the stock and over-the-counter markets. The ultimate goal of the course is to give students the basics of analyzing financial markets, as well as understanding the principles of strategies used in real trading in financial markets. The course is taught in two languages: Russian and English. Classes will be taught in Russian, and materials for reading and homework will be available in both Russian and English. Course prerequisites: No special requriments.
Learning Objectives
- to familiarise students with modern theoretical and practical literature on trading
- to introduce trading tactics and techniques that are used in real trading
Expected Learning Outcomes
- to apply the acquired knowledge to build, debug and optimize trading systems in the financial markets.
- to apply the conceptual apparatus of technical and fundamental analysis to forecast the change in the price of a financial asset
- to differenciate between “paper” and “real” trading and be able to translate these differences in the construction of real trading systems
- to list the main indicators of technical analysis, methods for testing them and the application of these indicators in various market conditions
