young people have taken part in the All-Russian Iron Entrepreneur championship, which the HSE Business Incubator and the HSE Office for Innovation are holding for the sixth year.

The Iron Entrepreneur championship is a series of business games in which participants suggest possible ways to use new technology.

120 participants reached this year’s final, with teams representing 50 cities from Russia and the CIS.

The finalists were instructed to come up with the best use of the ‘smart nose’ technology, which is integrated into a current measuring device to detect odors. The best was the ‘Good Case Team’ from Podolsk, which proposed using the device to control the degree to which food in the refrigerator has spoiled. The device is designed to notify the refrigerator’s owner by SMS that it is time to buy new groceries, as well as create a list of them indicating which foods are used less frequently.

Together with a delegation from the Russian startup community, the winners of the championship will travel to Singapore where they get acquainted with JFDI.Asia, a digital-accelerator in Southeast Asia; Life.SREDA, a Russian venture fund headquartered in Singapore; as well as large IT companies, local start-up projects, and successful entrepreneurs.
