On November 27 to 29, the HSE was held the Autumn School "Successes of decision analysis" with the participation of leading foreign specialists (Yong Shi, Michel Grabish, Ahmet Alkan, Bhavook Bhardwaj, Siddharth Chatterjee, Manfred J. Holler, K. Markström)

Theoretical physicists from Russia and Brazil are working together on a theory that describes novel superconducting materials with potentially high critical temperature. The theory can explain many properties of superconductors with non-trivial topological properties as well as of those with multiple condensates. This was stated to TASS by professor Dr. Mauro Doria (Institute of Physics at the Federal University of Rio-de-Janeiro, Brazil) and professor Dr. Alexei Vagov (Center for Quantum Metamaterials, Moscow Institute for Electronics and Mathematics, HSE University).

Dr. Mauro Doria, recognized specialist in the field of new superconducting materials, has held an interesting scientific event for all MIEM employees and students - a lecture "The Origin of the Dirac Linear Spectrum and Topology "

The main goal of this scientific visit was a joint research with scientists working at the Center, in particular, with Professor A. Shanenko and Professor A. Vagov. Professor Doria has also given a seminar at the MIEM HSE, where he  talked about his recent work on new materials with non-trivial topological properties.

The online conference was devoted to the latest global advances in social neuroscience using naturalistic stimuli. Leading Russian and foreign scientists participated in the online conference.

In October, a two-day seminar entitled ‘Ageing and frailty in Norway and Russia’ was held by HSE University’s International Laboratory for Population and Health.  In addition to purely demographic results concerning the changing age structure of the population and growing life expectancy, most presentations were devoted to the comparative assessment of physical and cognitive status among elderly people, cardiovascular aging, as well as social and medical support for the elderly. We spoke with the organizers and participants of the seminar about their research findings and the implications for society and public health.

What is affect and why is it important for humans? How can feelings be defined and what is their relation to emotions and consciousness? What might be used in making a soft robot? Professor Antonio Damasio (University of Southern California, USA) discussed these and other questions in his honorary lecture, entitled 'Feeling, Knowing, and Artificial Intelligence'.The talk was delivered on April 16 at the at the XXII April International Academic Conference held by HSE University jointly with Sberbank.

Annual Conference SABE 2020 on Behavioral Economics hosted by the International Laboratory for Experimental and Behavioural Economics on 22-26 July, is over
