Программа дисциплины

Аннотация

Prototyping Tools course develops the basic knowledge of the tools to research and communicate ideas, to conduct preliminary validation of a solution usability and it’s market fit. Students will learn a range of prototyping techniques and apply them to real-world challenges, knowing how to take any concept and create simple mock-ups and models that you can put in front of users for validation before launching. These skills are applicable for designing a new product, service, or business model or improving an existing one.

  • The course is aimed to provide students with necessary knowledge and tools to create and test prototypes of physical products, services and digital solutions in the modern business context.
  • During the learning process, students will gain the ability to strategically prototype their business ideas: formulate hypotheses, create different types of prototypes, gather user feedback and iterate. Based on the type of the product as well as the stage of the product development, the students will be able to choose the appropriate prototyping strategy and realise it on a practical level.

    The exam - team project report - has to be done in the form of an informative presentation, combining all the key course topics. Students will choose one product and create three types of prototypes: wireframe, clickable prototype, low-/no-code prototype using software. Based on the feedback, the students will adapt their product and present the final version of the solution. The report has to include formulated hypotheses, screenshots and the link to 3 prototypes, evidence of user feedback and the final iterated product version.

    The teams build a prototype of an ideal wallet. The designer interviews the partner, identifies the pain, creates ideas and builds a prototype.

    The teams go through the prototyping process on an example case: video-streaming service Quibi. The students formulate hypotheses, create a prototype, test the prototype and integrate feedback.
  • неблокирующий Workshop activity 3.
    The teams take part in the co-creation session: part of the class act as designers, part - as users. Together the teams create a learning&fun space at the university, using creativity techniques. The team goes on to prototype their idea with rapid prototyping tools and test it.

    The teams create a Customer Journey Map for the existing user experience with the food delivery. Then they create their own concept and perform a role-play prototype in front of the class.

    Students will choose one product and create three types of prototypes: wireframe, clickable prototype, low-/no-code prototype using software. Based on the feedback, the students will adapt their product and present the final version of the solution. Each of the prototypes accounts for 10 points. The students will present the results of their work in front of the class.
