Course Syllabus
Abstract
This course is designed to equip students with the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary for producing high-quality written content across a variety of genres and formats for marketing and communication purposes. The course is structured around developing text analysis skills to understand the structural and stylistic features of diverse text types, including digital and online content; cultivating the ability to plan and organise information in a logical and coherent manner; refining writing skills to produce clear, competent, and creative texts.
Learning Objectives
- Mastering text analysis skills: understanding the structure and characteristics of different types of texts, including online content.
- Developing text planning and organization skills: structuring information to create logical and coherent texts.
- Refining writing skills: mastering competent, clear, and creative written expression that takes into account the target audience and the purpose of the text. Upholding ethical standards: understanding the importance of citation, source usage, and plagiarism prevention.
- Applying basic text editing strategies: evaluating and editing one's own and others' texts with attention to grammar, style, and vocabulary.
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Analyse the structure, stylistic features, and communicative functions of various text types, including digital and online content, and identify their key characteristics.
- Plan and organise information effectively by structuring it in a logical, coherent manner that ensures clarity and flow in their writing.
- Produce competent, clear, and creative written texts that are tailored to specific target audiences and aligned with defined communicative purposes.
- Evaluate and edit both their own and others' texts with a critical eye, applying basic editing strategies to improve grammar, style, vocabulary, and overall readability.

- Lexical-syntactic and structural-semantic features of headlines. Wordplay
- Editor's tools. Fact-checking. How to search for and verify information
Assessment Elements
- Class participationThe students will receive points for participating in class and for completing homework tasks and quizzes on LMS. These tasks may vary, as well as assessment. You will receive specific task instructions and assessment criteria for each task.
- QuizzesThe students will receive points for participating in class and for completing homework tasks and quizzes on LMS. These tasks may vary, as well as assessment. You will receive specific task instructions and assessment criteria for each task.
- ProjectThe students will receive points for making a presentation on one of the suggested topics.
- Final Testthe students will complete the test on all the topics studies throughout the semester.
