Course Syllabus
Abstract
During the course of studying the discipline, students get acquainted with the main processes in logistics and supply chain management, as well as study their features in various business areas.
Learning Objectives
- The aim of the course is to familiarize the participating students with the basic concepts and frameworks of logistics and supply chain management, to familiarize with the role of logistics and supply chain management in the production enterprise, warehousing and inventory management, principles of lean logistics and to develop students’ related analytical and decision making skills related to supply chain management.
Expected Learning Outcomes
- To explain the definition, purpose and boundaries of responsibility of logistics in the enterprise
- To explain the main factors that have influenced and are influencing the development of logistics in the world and in Russia
- To explain the role of logistics in business and its relationship to other functions
- To be able to conduct an object decomposition of a logistics system, draw a diagram of a logistics network and system with different flows
- To be able to conduct a process decomposition of the logistics system, correctly identify logistics operations and functions
- To analyze the impact of quantitative (TCO) and qualitative factors on the 'make or buy' decision process in logistics
- To list the main objectives of warehouse and transportation management, linking them with the overall goals and objectives of logistics management at the enterprise
- To describe the role of functional areas of logistics in a company and explain their main tasks and specifics
- To explain the importance of transparency of information and cooperation for the success of the entire supply chain
- To ecognize the bullwhip effect, explain its machanism and ways of neutralizing
Course Contents
- 1. Evolution of logistics: the main paradigms and stages
- 2. The conceptual apparatus of logistics. General terminology
- 3. Management of operational logistical functions
- 4. Management of coordinating logistics functions.
- 5. Fundamental principles of supply chain management
- 6. Logistics service management and cross functional logistics coordination
- 7. Formation of a logistics management system at the enterprise
Assessment Elements
- Semiars activityCompletion of assignments in the seminars according to the established criteria. It is also possible to complete small assignments after the seminars on the seminar topic.
- ExamПересдача: Возможна Правила пересдачи: The retake is carried out in accordance with the established procedure. During the retake period, the student writes a similar version of the final test, but with different questions. In this case, the accumulated grade is taken into account at the retake according to the established formula. Translation of the percentage of correct answers into a 10-point scale is as follows: 0% - 0; 1-15% - 1; 16-29% - 2; 30-49% - 3; 50-58% - 4; 59-66% - 5; 67-75% - 6; 76-84% - 7; 85-92% - 8; 93-99% - 9; 100% - 10.
- TestОценивается в формате «все или ничего», т.е. одна ошибка приводит к обнулению результата тестового задания. Перевод процента правильных ответов в 10‑балльную шкалу осуществляется следующим образом: 0% — 0; 1–15% — 1; 16–29% — 2; 30–49% — 3; 50–58% — 4; 59–66% — 5; 67–75% — 6; 76–84% — 7; 85–92% — 8; 93–99% — 9; 100% — 10. Пересдача возможна.
