Course Syllabus

Abstract

Within the framework of the seminar, it is planned to organize an intensive discussion of current ideas, problems and projects in the field of modern visual research, as well as students' own research projects, both individual and collective. The seminar is aimed at developing students' skills in collaborative research, stimulating research and publication activity.

Learning Objectives

  • This section focuses on the initial and most crucial stage of research: defining a clear and answerable research question and selecting the appropriate methodology. We will discuss how to move from a broad area of interest to a specific, focused research problem. The section includes practical exercises on formulating research questions and justifying methodological choices.
Expected Learning Outcomes

Expected Learning Outcomes

  • Knows the principles of selecting a research topic and defining its goals and objectives. Is able to correctly formulate research questions. Is able to build a clear and logically sound research plan. Is able to select methods relevant to the research topic. Is able to justify the adequacy of the chosen research methods.
  • Is able to conduct research activities, including problem analysis, goal-setting, and defining the object and subject of research. Knows the features of a scientific text as a specific intellectual product. Masters the techniques of creating, formatting, and editing a scientific text. Is able to correctly and effectively process and present theoretical and empirical material.
  • Knows the basic forms and methods of modern research activities. Is able to critically analyze scientific results and develop strategies for their optimization. Is able to use modern technical means and information technologies to solve analytical and research problems. Masters the techniques of creating, formatting, and editing a scientific text.
