Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course provides students with different perspectives of the strategic management in the organizations engaged in the innovative business. The course examines theoretical concepts, practical frameworks and techniques useful in understanding, formulating and implementing successful strategy in innovative companies. Class sessions consist of the explanation of the theoretical concepts with active participation of the students in case analysis with practical implementation of the strategic tools and frameworks. The students also advance their teamwork capabilities within a group project and enhance reflective thinking abilities by writing individual essays. The course is based on a well-known and widely available textbook and also includes recent scientific studies in the arena of strategic management of innovation. Methodological framework of the course includes traditional lectures, discussions and case analysis, but also flipped classes (lectures provided by students), interactive gamification techniques stimulating creative problem solving.
