The procedure for approving the topic and the supervisor, the defense of the Thesis in the 2025/2026 academic year:

• from October 28 to November 5, 2025 selecting the Graduation thesis topic in the Smartpro system
• no later than November 21, 2025 Academic Council confirms the topic of the thesis
• no later than March 23, 2026 student can apply for changing the topic and/or thesis supervisor
• from April 15 to 23, 2026 student has to submit the final version of the thesis in the Smartpro
• from May 14 to June 6, 2026 thesis defense dates are set

At the third year of studying during the period of study at Kyung Hee University (Partner University), students are required to implement two projects:

• “Capstone Design for International Studies I”
• “Capstone Design for International Studies II”.

Pre-graduate Internship is a compulsory element in the 4th year of the HSE University and Kyung Hee University Double Degree Programme in Economics and Politics in Asia.

Pre-graduation Internship can be completed as:

• Pre-graduation Internship in organization;
• Pre-graduation Project.

Students can choose one type of professional internships proposed.

The grade is set by the Head of Internship at HSE on the cover page of the Internship Report and is based at the “10-point” approach to evaluating students’ knowledge. The grading system is based on completeness, detail, relevance, accuracy of information about the activities of the student during the internship, as well as the timeliness of the delivery of a package of documents.

During the preparation and completion of the internship, the student must provide the following information to the person responsible for the implementation of the internship and prepare the necessary documentation:

Before the start of the Internship:

• Place of practice / Project title and name of the Project Supervisor
• The student can independently choose the place of internship by notifying the Study Office in advance to conclude a contract with the selected organization.
• Individual task, agreed with  the Head of Internship at HSE

During the first week of Internship:

• Confirmation of passing the briefing (when passing an internship in an external organization)
• Internship schedule

After completing the internship (within 1-2 weeks):

• Internship Report / Project Report
• Review of the HSE organization / division / project supervisor

• from October 28 to November 10, 2025 selecting the Graduation thesis topic in the Smartpro system
• till November 21, 2025 approving of the Graduation thesis topic by the Academic Council
• till March 11, 2026 changing the scientific supervisor
• till April 11, 2026 changing the Graduation thesis topic
• from May 5 to May 11, 2026 uploading of the Graduation thesis final version in the Smartpro system
• from May 26 to June 7, 2026 setting Graduation thesis defense terms
