Sociological Researches of Inclusive Education: What Can They Offer Parents of Children with Disabilities?

On May 1, 2020, the international webinar of the International Laboratory for Social Integration Research was held together with the “Autism. Regions” association and the “Vykhod” Foundation for parents, teachers and researchers from different regions of  Russia, as well as from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

During the webinar, Elena Iarskaya-Smirnova, Nikita Bolshakov and Daniil Lebedev talked about the activities of the Laboratory and about the studies of inclusive education carried out by the Laboratory. Webinar participants learned about other Laboratory research projects on the inclusion of children with disabilities and discusses such questions as:

· Why is important in to conduct such researches in Russia;

· How scientific research allows to develop inclusive practices;

· How can parents understand that research will be useful for families and society;

· What are the criteria to understand that research has scientific and practical value.

During the discussion, the webinar participants emphasized the importance of conducting research projects based on a request of activists, public organizations, and parent communities.
