US debt ceiling crisis casts shadow over market

Sergei Karaganov, Dean of the HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs and Natalia Volchkova, a Professor at the New Economic School in Moscow, talk about how the averted debt ceiling impasse was perceived in Russia.

Although the debt ceiling debate is over and the resolution has been agreed to, the US credit rating is still suffering. Moody’s has given it a negative outlook and internationally the debate has still taken its toll. China dropped the US rating from A+ to A and other markets seem to be nervous about America’s ability to pay its debts in the future.

Natalia Volchkova, a Professor at the New Economic School in Moscow, and Sergei Karaganov, Dean of the Department of World Economy at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow, talk about how the averted debt ceiling impasse was perceived in Russia.
