HSE Staff Members Get Scopus Awards as Most Cited Russian Scholars

The academic publisher Elsevier has given awards to Russian scholars with the best citation indices in the Scopus database of research publications. HSE is the university with the most winning scholars.

Elsevier has been holding the annual Scopus Awards since 2004. They celebrate the most published and cited authors in Latin America, Asia, Europe, and, since 2011, in Russia.

To choose the winners, the Scopus database analyzed the 11 subject areas used in the Times Higher Education university ranking. Indicators included the number of publications by the author indexed by Scopus in 2015-2018 in the specific area, average number of citations for a publication, and weighted citation index in this area.

The Scopus Awards Russia 2018 ceremony took place on November 8th in Moscow.

In the Law field, the award was given to Alexander Savelyev, Senior Research Fellow at the International Laboratory for Information Technology and Intellectual Property Law.

In the Education field, the award was given to Tatiana Khavenson, Research Fellow at the International Laboratory for Education Policy Analysis.

The most cited author in the Psychology field was Evgeny Osin, Deputy Head of the International Laboratory of Positive Psychology of Personality and Motivation.

Tatiana Khavenson and Evgeny Osin are regular authors on IQ.HSE, a popular science website which communicates science to the wider audience in clear and comprehensible terms. Here is a selection of some of their most interesting research on IQ.HSE:

In addition to awards in specific subject fields, Scopus Awards were also given in several general categories. One of the winners in the ‘Most cited young researchers’ category was Evgeny Khorov, Head of the MIEM Laboratory of Telecommunication Systems and Senior Research Fellow at the RAS Institute for Information Transmission Problems (Kharkevich Institute).
