Neighbours: Who is Close to HSE in Rankings. Part 2, Sociology
We continue talking about universities that are alongside HSE in the 51–100 group in various subject areas in the QS ranking. Today we have sociologists speaking about their ‘neighbours in the ranking’.
Hobbies and Clubs Can Keep Youth Away from Alcohol
Youth in medium-sized and small towns who engage in after-school activities such as hobby clubs are less likely to drink alcohol. Generally, school-age youth in communities with higher educational levels, social and professional status are less vulnerable to alcohol abuse.
16.2%
of students who attend schools in the inner Moscow suburbs are children whose native language is not Russian.
6%
of school-age students participate in scientific and technical clubs, especially in mathematics and computer science. These pursuits turned out to be rather uncommon.
