The universe of all scope of general professional skills and competencies formed in a graduate master's program "Cell and Molecular Biotechnology" provides ability of the student to carry out activities in multiple fields or areas of professional activity and solve several types of problems:

01 Education and science (applied research); 02 Health care (biopharmacy, biomedicine, including the development of in-vitro diagnostics, molecular diagnostics, personalized medicine, cellular biomedical technologies, biocompatible materials, medicines, vaccines of new generation, antibiotics and bacteriophages, medical enzymes, means for biotherapy, system medicine and bioinformatics); 12 Safety assurance (expertise); 22 Food industry, including beverage and tobacco production (food protein, enzyme preparations, prebiotics, probiotics, synbiotics, functional food products, in the field of deep processing of food raw materials); 26 Chemical, chemical-technological production (manufacturing of "green" chemistry products, products of fermentative reactions, microbiological synthesis and biotransformation, prevention and liquidation of harmful anthropogenic impact on the environment of man-made activity); 40 Cross-cutting types of professional activity (research and development, standardization, certification and quality control, storage and transportation of biotechnological products)

Type of tasks for which graduates are prepared:

Production and technology, management of organization, scientific research, project management.

Main goal of the program is to prepare graduates with diverse competences. On the one hand, the educational programs in the direction of training 19.04.01 Biotechnology should provide knowledge in the field of modern biotechnology and trending scientific research in the field of closed-loop economics and the impact of the environment on living systems. It should be noted that in addition to the direct production component in biotechnology, more and more attention is now focused on studying the effects of various pollutants and other environmental factors on the regulation of genes and individual development of organisms (hereinafter - exposomes). A large part of the educational program will be devoted to this topic. On the other hand, future graduates of such programs will need competencies in the management of modern innovative industries, skills and best practices in commercialization of scientific developments and technological entrepreneurship, so the program curriculum includes disciplines that provide such competencies.

The structure of the proposed curriculum consists of the following five educational modules:

1. The module Key Seminars includes an obligatory element - a mentor seminar, and the module additionally includes a series of sequential thematically related seminars: Biotechnology and Bioengineering Research Seminar, Design Seminar on Design and Organization of Biotechnology Production, Design Seminar on Investments in Bioeconomics, Design Seminar on Start-Up Designing.

2. Practicum module contains research practice, industrial practice (practice for obtaining professional skills and experience of professional activity), preparation of the final qualification work.

3. The Major module includes disciplines that form necessary professional competences of a graduate: Current problems of bioeconomics and biotechnology, Strategic thinking in bioeconomics, Design, organization and management of biotechnology production, Systemic biology and bioinformatics, Microbial biotechnology and biotechnology processes, Plant biotechnology and agrobiotechnology, Genetic engineering and bioengineering, Medical biotechnology, Features of regulatory regulation of bioeconomics in Russia and in the world, Venture

4. The MagoLego module includes the disciplines of the university-wide pool offered to students for independent choice.

5. The module of the state final attestation is a defense of the final qualification work.

What you need to know for admission

The Master's program "Cell and Molecular Biotechnology" is implemented at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of the National Research University Higher School of Economics.

To be admitted to the program you need to have at least a Bachelor's degree.

The procedure for admission to the Master's program and the conditions of the competitive selection are determined by the Rules of admission to the University for training in Master's programs. Entrance tests are conducted in the form of a competition of documents (portfolio).

1.         Graduates of Bachelor's and Specialist's Degrees who have specialized education in chemical and biological specialties, ecology and nature management, industrial ecology and biotechnology, who are planning to continue their education in Master's degree;

2.         Specialists with experience in the pharmaceutical, chemical, biotechnological industries, wishing to gain new knowledge and systematically prepare for activities in the bioeconomy.
