On Wednesday, December 19 the all-Russian seminar "Mathematical methods of decision analysis in economics, finance and politics" was held. C. Sorokin gave a lecture on "Optimal information disclosure in auctions".

On December 18 Bultseva M. (trainee researcher, postgraduate student of the National Research Institute of Higher School of Economics) took part in the "Culture matters" research seminar with the report "The relationships of intercultural competence, acculturation attitudes, and the creativity of Russian students".

The 'map of professions' is being redrafted right in front of our eyes, and approaches to staff training are changing radically. Russian and German experts discussed the factors affecting the labour market in the 21^st century in an unusual format — podium debates combined with a pre-Christmas reception. The event was hosted by the Moscow German Embassy’s Department of Science, the German Centre for Research and Innovation (DWIH), and the Higher School of Economics on 4 December, 2018.

As part of the promotion of modern supercomputer technologies for the needs of scientific research, SAMMA laboratory organized the second school-seminar "Supercomputers in scientific research: the horizons of multi-scale modeling and effective supercomputer co-design". This event brings together developers of advanced supercomputer technologies and scientists who use high-performance computing in their research. The first day was devoted to the analysis of new technical solutions for high-performance computing, and the second to applications of supercomputer modeling, molecular dynamics simulations in the real problems of materials science and molecular biology.

Two works of the winners of the Open HSE Student Research Paper Competition (NIRS) in 2018 in subject area “Philosophy” were dedicated to the problems of formal epistemology and were prepared under scientific supervision of the Deputy Head of the International Laboratory for Logic, Linguistics and Formal Philosophy Vitaliy Dolgorukov.

A hosted lecture by Professor Eric Maskin "How to Improve Presidential Elections" at the Faculty of Economic Sciences on December 13 was followed by by the meeting of the  DeCAn lab Staff with the Nobel Laureate.

The laboratory staff Helen Tevanyan and Michal Rosenwald made oral and poster presentations at the international conference on bioinformatics and Biomedicine in Madrid. Mikhail Gelfand is the organizer and co-chair of the workshop "analysis and modeling of three-dimensional chromatin structure", held within the framework of the conference.
