From August 26–29, 2025, the largest annual linguistics conference, Societas Linguistica Europaea, took place in Bordeaux, France. Doctoral students and researchers from HSE University took part in the event. The paper ‘Lability Drift in Modern Aramaic languages’ by Elena Shvedova was highly praised by the expert community and took first place among PhD student presentations. In an interview with the HSE News Service, Elena Shvedova spoke about her research and the conference itself.

The official HSE University website has published an article titled "New Models for Disease Research: From Petri Dish to Organs-on-a-Chip," focusing on the work of the Molecular Physiology Laboratory at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology in developing innovative approaches to organ-on-chip modeling and researching preeclampsia — one of the most dangerous pregnancy complications.

From 13 to 18 July, the XXX International Population Conference (IPC2025) was held in Brisbane, Australia, organised by the International Union for the Study of Population (IUSSP) in conjunction with the Australian National University. The conference is held every four years and is considered one of the key events in global demographic science.

In the framework of world science structure mapping the HSE University Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK) for the first time has identified the most relevant for Russia research and development topics using a system of intelligent analysis of big data iFORA.

In July, a team from the HSE Centre for Language and Brain, in collaboration with the Centre for the Study, Preservation, and Development of Native Languages of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), conducted the first-ever neurolinguistic expedition to the village of Churapcha to study reading in the Yakut language using electroencephalography (EEG). For the first time, EEG data from 43 adults and behavioural data from 40 children was collected during the two-week expedition.

In 1968, American mathematician Paul Chernoff proposed a theorem that allows for the approximate calculation of operator semigroups, complex but useful mathematical constructions that describe how the states of multiparticle systems change over time. The method is based on a sequence of approximations—steps which make the result increasingly accurate. But until now it was unclear how quickly these steps lead to the result and what exactly influences this speed. This problem has been fully solved for the first time by mathematicians Oleg Galkin and Ivan Remizov from the Nizhny Novgorod campus of HSE University. Their work paves the way for more reliable calculations in various fields of science. The results were published in the Israel Journal of Mathematics (Q1).

On June 27, Egor Ivanov, a research assistant, presented a report at the regular scientific seminar of the International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy. He presented the results of his joint research with Mariya Molodchik, Petr Parshakov, and Evgeniya Shenkman, titled "Strategic Choice in eSports: An Analysis of Team Decisions During Map Vetoes."

Professors from the University of Campinas "Unicamp" who are part of the Scientific Team of a joint project "Pluralistic Perspectives on Logic and Formal Philosophy" spoke at the conference "Formal Philosophy 2025".

On June 24, 2025 at the HSE University in Perm began a summer series of workshops under RNF Grant 25-18-00539: “Comparative Analysis of Behavior of Artificial Intelligence-Based Agents and Real Individuals in Economic Decision-Making” led by Petr Parshakov.

The XXVIII International Joint Scientific Conference "Internet and Modern Society" was held from June 23 to 25, 2025 in St. Petersburg. ITMO University and the Non-Profit Partnership "PRIOR North-West" organized the conference. International Laboratory for Digital Transformation in Public Administration Research Fellow Yury Kabanov presented a pilot study on the impact of decentralization on the effectiveness of the subnational digital government.
